As some of you already know I am self-employed. I focus on the role of internet in the interaction between civilians and the government (mostly local government). One of the effects of being self-employed is a lot of freedom, but the downside is instability of income. The last few months work (and income) has been slow. But that is going to change now. Yesterday I received confirmation that a large project will hire me. The municipality of Zoetermeer wants me to be their projectleader raadsinformatiesysteem (the online service for providing all sorts of formal information from the city council of Zoetermeer).

woohooo Im so excited!

Next to this project 2 other projects are on the road. So, the next few months will be busy.

Im not sure if and how this will affect my playtime though......

Grats! Great news :)

Great news, congrats. Zoetermeer is in places quite pretty (my sister lived there a couple of years). But it stinks sometimes of cowshit and other times of Rotterdam. I guess you will stay in Groningen?

I used to stay at the Movenpick in Voorburg when working in The Hague, but you're probably better of finding something in Zoetermeer.

gz m8 :) Turkish friend of mine used to live in Zoetermeer, i remember alot of white people living there that hated the foreigners. Never liked the looks of the city, nothing but newly constructed buildings.

Indeed it's mostly new build, but the suburbs are pleasant. My sister's house backed on to a canal and they had a boathouse and stuff and everyone had nice gardens. Her husband was then working as naval attache at the embassy in The Hague, so I guess they would be classified as amongst "acceptable" foreign workers.
