i have been thinking about reading WWS, but i was scared. I did not know how to interpret my own numbers. I am so NOT a number cruncher-thorizer. I don;t even understand them.
But then there was this post by Freek (top post) and i saw how it was possible to check how I was doing. So i started. First i calculated how much damage my shots do (including misses and crits) over a 4 minute fight. I found out i did too may autoshots to fit into the window of 4 minutes. That made me think about speed (one of my talents gives me a speed bonus for 12 seconds after i crit (or something)). I always thought that speed bonus was not interesting for me, bcs it will not shorten my GCD, and my casts are never longer than 1.5 sec. Now i found out that my 2.7 bow's auoshot actually is shortened. So, i will start using Rapid Fire again. It is now in position 2 on the 'urgency'-list. After Hunters Mark.
Anyway, seeing that my autoshots were 'cool' was a good sart and gve me enough spirit to get me going. Bu then the problem rose: in order to know what shots to use, i need to know how long i can last with my mana (i need to use Viper Aspect, whih is a 50% damage penalty to regain mana). So i thought: better find out how much mana i regen when in Viper stance.
That's not possible, bcs the tooltip states that it 'mana gained is based on the speed of your ranged weapon'. By that time i had been puzzling for about 1.5 or 2 hours, knowing i should start working.
I felt bad. I needed a hug. Noone there. Hedzer to work, cat outside. Guppy asleep :-)
So i started working.
In the evening i asked Hedzer whether he would help me with this. Not like 'I do it and you check it', but like 'we discuss everything, and we start with the strategy'. He did no mind :-)
So we started on elitist jerks. (Yes, i was there before, but i get lost in all these posts.) We used Hunters DPS sheet to find out what glyphs i could use and what rotation i should use (depending on the prio of shots i entered). After a while i could continue by myself.
Now i am dead tired, i have 5 new gems (all +hit), i have 2 new glyphs, i have a rotation (or at least a prio list), but more important, i took another step in teh world of scary things. 4 down, 7 million to go :-)
I don't know whetehr i will actually do mre DPS and damage now, but at least i know what i am doing and why. Especially the last makes me happy.
So:
1. Kill Shot (Can only be used at mobs with 20% health, but has 35 secs CD. Would be sad if i could use one less bcs mob is down. Avg 4.4k)
2. Hunters Mark (more AP is more dmg)
3. Rapid Fire (speeds up autoshot for 15 secs with 40%. )
4. Trinket 1 (haha no use on that one!)
5. Trinket 2 (use gives extra AP)
6. Bestial Wrath (me and Guppie do more dmg)
7. Arcane Shot (goes through armour, but has like 10% miss chance. So i got myself new gems and when i quaff accuracy and eat snapper extreme, i should not miss anymore)
8. Serpent Sting (When serpent sting is up, my steady shot gets 10% more dmg. Also, it now tiks for 18 secs, but will prolly be patched to 21 secs.)
9. Steady Shot (default cheap, low-dmg shot. Just a filler)
I might work on my spec a bit more, bcs i heard that the 51/20 is a good spec, as well as the 52/19. I was thiking about going 50/21 so i could have reayness, but decided against it: i would miss out on exotic pets and 4 talent points for Guppie. But a respec might be an idea. I'll post spec option(s) later.

One tip: Readiness will no longer affect Bestial Wrath after 3.0.8. so the real benefit of that 50/21 specc will be lost. Also your beloved Spirit Beast (Guppie ;) ) did indeed receive its buff, so hanging on to your 51 point talent may be good.
Also: Kill shots CD will be reduced to 15 secs (yay)
Finally: I didnt know Arcane had a different to hit chance? Isn't it 8% to cap like everything else? It may seem like it has a higher mischance because of partial resists, but beyond that...

Nope, no spell hit for
Nope, no spell hit for Arcane. It's not a spell but a shot. Hunters only use spellhit for Feign Death and Traps to my knowledge. The damagecomponent for Arcane is not physical, but it is a physical damage ability (scaling with AP and not SP for instance) in all other aspects. In my time of theorycrafting I didnt come across anything else concearning Arcane shot and +hit. I could be wrong though, but I would be surprised in this case if I were.
Edit: Checked Shandara's as well, on the Calculations tab under Arcane Shot the hit component is the same as it is for the other abilities.

Yeah, i was happy with the patchwork fight. The world could have exploded around me and i still would no have noiced it: i was staring my buttons down :-)
In a while i will be confident enough about my insight in teh game (or lack thereof) to actually start making macros. That will make me a bit more pleasant for Shrubsie i think.
DPS on Gluth was horrible... i was actually running more than i was pressing buttons: run towards boss, DPS.. run towards adds: add trap.. run towards boss: tranq shot.. run towards adds: kite .. hahaha
but it was fun, bcs when we killed him the only think i noticed was: hey... silence... i look up and ask Hedzer: "Is he dead?"
DPS on Grobby was not too good bcs i had to run every time. Except for one. I kept on getting the opposite charge.
On the four horsies the first couple of ries i did no DPS. I only tried to keep Guppie alive and to run at the right time. Well, that shows on my overall dmg.
But it was a great evening, and i don't care no being at the top as long as those at the top are more awesome than i am!
