Finding your way around

Sections

The website has 5 sections: Home, Guild, Members, Points, and Events (top right of page). Each section has it's own navigation (in the left sidebar). For instance, Home has links to MOTD, Discuss on the forum, Strategies, How 2 play and this section. Guild has links to About Vintage, Rules and guildelines, Infrastructure and this section. To get an overview of all links of all sections in one go, check out the sitemap.

* Home. Message of the day, stragegies, how to play, forums. All public.
* Guild. About vintage, rules and guidelines, about the infrastructure we rely on. Public with small private part (extended rules and guidelines).
* Members. Viewing list of members (public), links to their blogs (private), SP/DKP (private) and toons (public). Also managing members and toons (private+).
* Points. Explanation of the systems we use (public). Viewing (private) and managing (private+) DKP and Sorry Points.
* Events.Viewing (public) and signing for events (private). Managing events (private+).

Sidebar

* At the top there are links to the forums. You find your uread messages/posts there.
* Below it, there might be a block of links to new content. If it does not show, there is no new content on the website for you. You may, however, still have unread posts on the forums.
* Then you will find the navigation-block for the section you are on. This block changes with each section.
* Below that is the the My menu block. It has links to your account, to logging out. In addition, it links to the pages where content is created (see below on how that works).
* Finally, there's the block with names who's on line.
* The orange block at the very bottom is an RSS subscription thingy.

Adding Content

It's possible to add content in a couple of ways: boss strategies and instance-tips are added as book-pages. How-2-play stuff (stuff about specific classes or roles) is added through blogging. Both stragegies and how-2-play blogs are public. Personal blogs can be made too. These can deal with anything you want, from 'how to knit a sweater' to 'i don't wanna play anymore' or 'i so love my cat/toon/husband'. All the content mentioned above can be commented on by the ppl that are allowed to see the specific page/post. Another way to express your feelings is at the forum.

Forum.

We have 4 sections in the forum: Public, Private (Mortals and Friends and up), Heroes and up, Immortals and Death. All forums are moderated, so it might happen that posts that are off topic are removed from a thread. What exactly happens to such a post will be posted at the forum by Bas.

The forum will be used for temporary stuff mostly, so if you want to write something that has to be saved forever, use a blog. The one thing that will be saved on the forums is the evaluation of Mortals. Most content in the forums however will be added to the website once it is 'done'. Forums can be viewed in section Home under the link Discuss on the forums.

Private website content

It is possible to keep your blogs private. For each blog entry you make, you can check the box 'Private' that appears below the editor. This means that all members of Vintage can see the post. Friends cannot see the post.

Personal messages or off topic stuff

In your 'My menu' link in the sidebar, there is a link to 'Create content'. Click it and pick 'Blog'. You need to enter a title, and at least one of the boxes should be checked. If you check 'Personal/General', the post will be shown in your own blog only. You can post here about anything that interests you. Checking the box 'private' (below the editor) keeps your post from being read by Friends and anonymous visiters. Blogs can be found on the profile page, but also (soonish) at the member page in the member section of the site.

How-2-Play

In your 'My menu' link in the sidebar, there is a link to 'Create content'. Click it and pick 'Blog'. You need to enter a title, and at least one of the boxes should be checked. If you check a box that goes with a class, the post will be added to the class blog as well as to your own blog. The same goes for roles. It is possible to check multiple boxes. The class and role blogs together make up the how-2-play base. These posts are public. You can view the class and role blogs here.

Strategies on bosses and instances

In your 'My menu' link in the sidebar, there is a link to 'Create content'. Add a title and content. Select the relevant book that should contain the post. If the book is not there, just write it anyway. Website administrators can put your page in the right book. It is also possible to go to Home and then select Strategies and select a strategy. There is a link to 'Add child page'. Use that to add a new boss or instance. Post a comment if you feel an addition or change is necessary. You can change all strategies. A revision is made automatically. Viewing strategies you can do here. Just use the view books, use the 'view prnterfriendly version' at the top level to see a whole book, or at a deeper level to see a section.

Other content (comments)

If you don't feel comfortable writing a fulls trat, or if you ahve questions about a strat, or a blog, or if you feel an addition is necessary, you can write a comment. Comments can be added to all sorts of blogs and strats. Never be afraid to write a comment. Just keep it on topic :-)
Comments to private blogs are private too.

They cannot sign or unsign themselves or anyone else for runs. Anonymous readers can view all strategies and all how-to-play blogs. 5. Immortal. Same as Hero, but has one more forum to read and write in: the officers' forum.

Moderation/Administration of website and Forums

Both website and forums ar moderated to some extent. We do not ahve moderation on content. Accesslevel determines whether you can add content. if you can, you can immediately see your contentn, and so can others. We do, however, have moderation on the on-topicness of frum posts and on structure of strategies. The first is decided on bcs we tend to go off topic, and bcs we are xpected to read the forums at least once a week, we should be able to determine the relevance of a thread by its title.
Moderation on structure of strategies is decided on bcs we are using a new system, and it takes a while to get accustomed to it.

Kim and Hedzer moderate the website: They can revert revisions. Can delete, create and change all content in website and forums. Can activate accounts and so on. They can also enter new accounts, delete accounts, change base data in the database (enter new instances etc). Bas is forum moderator for all forums except officers forums. Hedzer is admin of officers forums.
